Many people open up businesses because they aren’t happy with their personal employment situation. For some, it is also a way of pursuing an interest or hobby while earning a profit at the same time. Some products/services will be big hits, but some will quickly fall by the wayside. With all the companies that have come and gone in the line of moneymaking, production, distribution and servicing, this begs the question: what does it take to be immortal in business?

There are businesses that have gained the immortal status because they maintained one product/service that had extremely positive feedback. But then again, there has never been a business that just sat on its laurels once it reached the top. Even the world’s largest corporations like Pepsi and GE have produced products considered classics, but their approach toward the public was different. That is why even if the products they were known for stayed as they are without significant changes (soda, light bulb, etc.), people still wanted to purchase/use the product.

Here are a few secrets to bringing new life to business:

Get Star Endorsers. Once you go big, get endorsers whose images will be good for your product. Pepsi consistently courted the biggest stars to endorse their products. Using everyone from athletes to rock stars to visual artists, Pepsi made sure its product was seen as being for everyone — and everyone that everybody else looked up to.

Revamp the Marketing. There has never been a time when marketing was more heated than today. Revamping the marketing will mean you should take new approaches toward presenting your product to the people. Get fresh ideas. One of the most effective ways to do this is to keep hiring people who are gifted in the creative arena. Once you get the ball rolling, you will surely bring new life to business all the time.

Create Hype. If you want to save on advertising and let the people do the talking for you, you must create hype. Whether it’s new packaging, an awesome event, or a really fantastic promo, you must keep a good image and make your product/service known to as many people as you can reach.

The life of a business is dependent on many things, but when you’re on top you can’t afford to ever slack off.
