MLM marketing, by definition, is the development and delivery of a product or products to satisfy the needs of people. It is multi-level because it involves different people doing the job of selling. MLM marketing requires a dependable and effective team leader in order for the marketing strategy to work successfully.

Unfortunately, unethical practices have resulted in this field as people try to outsmart one another in order to attain the sales figures that they desire.

There are 4 main things you should actively avoid if you are thinking of joining MLM marketing:

1. Go into MLM marketing only if you believe in it. Done properly, the strategy will work well provided everybody on the team does his part well. This means that you do not just go into the business because of the money you can make. Selling is not just having people pay for the product; rather, you as the marketer have a big responsibility to deliver the goods that were purchased.

2. The downlines in MLM marketing often make people greedy, as they want to have as many people on their team as possible so they can reap the downlines as promised. But if you are not able to motivate your people at the different levels, the overall result may not be as stellar as you had hoped. Avoid pressuring your team members unnecessarily in an attempt to generate sales so you can have achieve you want as downline. Your team must be properly motivated, which requires incredible leadership on your part as the team leader. You have to develop your team so each member will do his utmost to reach for the overall sales results you desire.

3. MLM marketing — or any kind of marketing, for that matter — extends far beyond just collecting payments for the goods you sold. You have a serious responsibility to deliver the goods to your buyer. If you fail in this (or otherwise underdeliver on what was ordered in the transaction), you will fail in MLM marketing. Take care not to lie or deceive people, and uphold your part of the bargain after the customer has paid for the goods.

4. In MLM marketing you are not just an ordinary salesman: you are a leader, too. You lead your team while at the same time having to meet your obligations to the customers. A sales transaction will fail if your customer is unhappy because you did not deliver the goods after the buyer has paid for them.

A lot of negatives have been associated with MLM marketing, with some critics even labeling it is a scam. Much hard work and committed professionals are needed to change this misconception.
